Ailyn’s 2023/24 season is bookended by appearances as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly. September brought her first performances in the role at Teatro di San Carlo, and she revisits it this July at Teatro Real de Madrid following additional appearances at Houston Grand Opera in January. This season saw an additional role debut for Ailyn singing the title role in the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Daniel Catán’s , after which the declared her an “…uncontested star: wistful, tender and sincere.” She returned to the Met last month as Micaëla in following a debut at Washington Concert Opera as Magda in , and performances at Staatsoper Hamburg singing the title role in .
Next season, Ailyn revisits Tosca at Staatsoper Berlin, and sings Mimi in at both the Met and Wiener Staatsoper. She follows this with performances as Cio-Cio-San in at Gran Teatre del Liceu and as Nedda in at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
Recent highlights for Ailyn on the concert stage include gala concerts at the Kennedy Center and at Carnegie Hall for the 46th annual Richard Tucker Awards. She has also sung Verdi’s RequiemRequiem with the Orchestre Métropolitain under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Mozart’s with Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the Essener Philharmoniker.
A recipient of both the Richard Tucker and Beverly Sills Artist awards, Ailyn is a graduate of Philadelphia’s Academy of Vocal Arts and Indiana University. She serves as Artistic Advisor as part of the faculty at the Vincero Academy and is an Opera for Peace Ambassador.
