The ninth edition of the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino – CLIP – starts its preliminary phase with a new and important record: 292 total registrations, which demonstrates a lively and constantly growing interest on the part of the international opera world.
292 young talents will be subjected to a strict pre-selection by Gianni Tangucci and the artistic direction of the competition.
Francesco Daniel Donati, director of the Associazione Bottesini, promoter of CLIP, says: “It is a great satisfaction for us to see the enthusiasm of the singers who have decided to enrol for this edition. Not only have we reached a number of registrations equal to the pre-COVID years, but we have exceeded it. Moreover, what is even more pleasing is to see that the overall quality of the candidates has also improved, proving that CLIP has become an established and appreciated competition, perceived by singers all over the world not as something to be attempted but to be tackled once an excellent level of preparation has been reached.”
The candidates who will be heard in the coming days come from 45 different countries spread over five continents, and many of them will face long journeys in order to win the chance to be noticed by the directors of the prestigious theatres on the jury.
