Rossini’s La cenerentola will be back on the Vienna State Opera’s repertoire from Friday, 15 March 2024. In this series of performances, Juan Diego Flórez will replace Edgardo Rocha in the role of Don Ramiro. He will be singing this role for the first time at the Haus am Ring.
State Opera Director Bogdan Roščić:
“I am very sorry that Edgardo Rocha has to cancel due to illness, but I am also very pleased that our audiences will be able to hear Juan Diego Flórez at the Staatsoper this March after all. He had to cancel the originally planned revival of Guillaume Tell due to tracheitis. Because he missed all rehearsals due to the illness, he is now unable to take part in the remaining performances of Tell after his recovery. Thankfully, however, he has spontaneously agreed to make his Viennese role debut as Don Ramiro in the upcoming series of La cenerentola.”
Under the musical direction of Gianluca Capuano, Juan Diego Flórez will be joined by Vasilisa Berzhanskaya as Angelina, Misha Kiria – for the first time at the Vienna State Opera – as Don Magnifico, Roberto Tagliavini as Alidoro, Ileana Tonca as Clorinda and Isabel Signoret as Tisbe.
