Two of today’s most outstanding sopranos, the South African Pretty Yende and the American Nadine Sierra, will bring to Madrid’s Teatro Real on Thursday 25 April the concert for two that they have already given on different European stages and which next season will come to Barcelona’s Liceu. With Pablo Mielgo conducting the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real, both performers will offer scenes from the operas Elisabetta regina d’Inghilterra by Rossini, Don Pasquale by Donizetti, La sonnambula by Bellini, La traviata by Verdi, Lakmé by Delibes and Les contes d’Hoffmann by Offenbach, including a scene from the zarzuela La tempranica by Giménez, among other works.
The adventure of the two acclaimed singers began with a first concert at the Philharmonie in Paris in March 2023, with Maestro Giacomo Sagripanti on the podium of the Orchestre Les Frivolités Parisiennes. The same concert had been scheduled last year for the closing of the Festival Cap Rocat in Mallorca, with Mielgo on the podium, but Pretty Yende had to cancel, being replaced by tenor Francesco Demuro.
