The Premios Ópera XXI have announced its 2024 winners which will be honored on June 17, 2025 at the Palau de Les Arts de Valencia.
Some names stand out, such as, Pablo Heras-Casado, the winner of Best Music Direction, for “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” at the Teatro Real while the Best Director award was given to Calixto Bieito for “Lear” by Aribert Reimann at the Teatro Real.
The Best Singer award went to bass-baritone Simón Orfila for Escamillo in “Carmen” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona as well as Zaccaria “Nabucco” at the Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, among others. Mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé also took home the Best Singer trophy for Elisabetta in “Maria Stuarda” at the Palau de Les Arts de Valencia. Best Young Singer was awarded to baritone Jan Antem for his participation in “The Telephone” at the Festival Perelada and for his work as Dancaïre in “Carmen” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
