The Staatsoper Berlin has revealed its 2025/26 season, which promises a mix of classic works and new productions. The season will kick off with an ambitious staging of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. Other highlights include Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Das kalte Herz, and Das schlaue Füchslein, with Rafael Villalobos debuting with Un ballo in maschera. The repertoire will also feature beloved works such as La Bohème and Madama Butterfly. Noteworthy debuts include soprano Serena Sáenz and director Calixto Bieito, bringing fresh perspectives to the stage.
In his second season as the General Music Director, Christian Thielemann will conduct two cycles of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen and Wozzeck for its centenary. During the 2026 Festtage, he will lead Der Rosenkavalier and a Good Friday Concert with Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem. The season will also feature major revivals such as Aida, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Don Giovanni, and many others.
