Awaiting the start of the 2024 Opera Season, on 26 January at the Comunale Nouveau with Manon Lescaut, the encounters of the “Parliamo d’Opera” and “In Controluce” reviews resume, which will accompany the titles of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna’s operas on the programme. The first two appointments will immerse the audience in the atmosphere of Puccini’s masterpiece.
Manon Lescaut will be discussed with Dardust, the protagonist of the first meeting of “Parliamo d’Opera”, scheduled for Wednesday 17 January at 6.30 p.m. in the Auditorium Biagi of the Salaborsa in Palazzo d’Accursio. He is one of the new generation of Italian pianists among the most listened to in the world, an exceptional author and producer who boasts over 70 platinum records. His music has accompanied internationally renowned events such as the Superbowl and the NBA All Star Game, and he has also achieved success and recognition at the Sanremo Festival. The Bologna event curated by Pierfrancesco Pacoda, who will moderate the meetings together with journalist Luca Baccolini, is preparing to welcome artists such as Elio, Frankie Hi-nrg, Andrea Appino, Francesco Bianconi and many others this year. “Parliamo d’Opera” is realised with the support of Rekeep and in collaboration with the Culture and Creativity Sector and the Libraries and Cultural Welfare Sector of the Municipality of Bologna, as part of the actions of Bologna UNESCO City of Music. Admission is free with booking on Eventbrite.
Manon Lescaut, a “pure passion” between desire and tragedy is the appointment dedicated to Puccini’s title of “In Controluce“, Percorsi d’opera tra arte e storia (Paths of opera between art and history), scheduled for Friday 19 January at 8.30 p.m. at the Auditorium Manzoni. “Pure passion“: this is how the 35-year-old Giacomo Puccini defined his third opera, the voluptuous and tragic Manon Lescaut, the staging of a woman incapable of renouncing, a woman always poised between opposing and irreconcilable desires. A psychoanalyst, Stefano Bolognini, and an art historian, Giovanni Carlo Federico Villa, together with journalist Luca Baccolini, will chase her archetypes and heirs in a journey through visual arts, literature and music, with famous pages from the opera interpreted by two young singers who trained at the Scuola dell’Opera of TCBO: soprano Rossella Vingiani and tenor Xin Zhang. The review, curated by Barbara Abbondanza, is realised by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in collaboration with Innovio. This appointment sees the contribution of E-Gap and Tazzari Ev. Another seven appointments will follow throughout the season to accompany the works on the bill, with guests such as Giovanni Bietti, Alessandra Necci, Alessandro Solbiati, Laura Pepe and Alessandro Vanoli.
