In March, performances continue of Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail (3, 5, 8, 10 March) and Madina (1, 2, 7, 9 March), the musical creation by Fabio Vacchi with choreography by Mauro Bigonzetti, after which our Ballet Company will bring on tour Le Corsaire in Hong Kong and Giselle in Shanghai.
Die Entführung aus dem Serail will be streamed live on LaScalaTv on 3 March.Meanwhile, anticipation is growing for the premiere of Guillaume Tell, Rossini’s monumental last opera, for the first time at La Scala in the original French language. On stage from 20 March to 10 April under the baton of Michele Mariotti, this new production marks the La Scala debut of stage director Chiara Muti and features a cast of Rossini experts, including Michele Pertusi, Salome Jicia, Dmitry Korchak and Luca Tittoto.
The production will be streamed live on LaScalaTv on 6 April.This month’s concert programme sees Philippe Jordan and Matthias Pintscher on the podium of the Filarmonica della Scala on 4 and 18 March respectively, while for the guest orchestra cycle the Collegium Vocale Gent performs Bach’s Matthäus-Passion conducted by Philippe Herreweghe on 25 March.After her triumph in Don Carlo, Elīna Garanča returns in recital on 11 March with an eclectic programme that includes pieces by Brahms, Berlioz, Gounod, Duparc, Rachmaninov and other Spanish and Latvian composers. On 24 March, Rosa Feola will step onto our stage for a recital dedicated to Belcanto with intrusions into the French and Mozart repertoire.
