For the third year in a row, the Teatro Real is set to hand out awards for artistic merit.
This year the company will award conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, director Robert Wilson, sopranos Saioa Hernández and Sara Blanch, and baritones Leight Melrose and Martin Winkler at a ceremony on May 22.
The evening will showcase performances by pianist Javier Perianes.
Hernández is being awarded for her work in productions of “Turandot” and “Medea” while Blanch for her performances as Fiorilla in “Il turco in Italia” and Dircé in “Medea.” Winkler is being recognized for his performance as Kovaliov in “The Nose” and Melrose for his work as Richard Nixon in “Nixon in China.”
