Due to the continuation of an indisposition, Mrs Angela Meade is forced to cancel her participation in the opening night of Giuseppe Verdi’s production of Aida. The Teatro Regio, wishing the artist a speedy recovery, thanks Mrs Erika Grimaldi for her availability to replace her in the performance on Saturday, February 25th and in the evening dress rehearsal. Thanks are also due to Mrs Anna Nechaeva, who was readily available to perform the role of Aida at the Youth Preview on Friday, February 24th, at 8 p.m. and at the second performance on Sunday, February 26th, at 3 p.m.
Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida is on stage for ten performances from February 25th to March 8th. On the podium of the Regio Orchestra and Chorus is Michele Gamba. The staging is by Oscar-winning director William Friedkin, whose direction is taken over by Riccardo Fracchia. The other protagonists are Silvia Beltrami and Anastasia Boldyreva, who alternate in the role of Amneris; Stefano La Colla and Gaston Rivero in that of Radamès; Gevorg Hakobyan as Amonasro, King of Ethiopia and father of Aida; Evgeny Stavinsky (Ramfis, head of the priests), Marko Mimica (the king), Thomas Cilluffo (a messenger) and Irina Bogdanova (a priestess). Sets and costumes are by Carlo Diappi, choreography by Anna Maria Bruzzese, lighting by Andrea Anfossi and animated silhouettes by Michael Curry. Maestro Andrea Secchi prepares the Teatro Regio Chorus.
