Elene Gvritishvili is a Russian soprano from Saint Petersburg, currently based in Munich. During her conservatory studies, she began her professional journey as a member of Teodor Currentzis’ ensemble musicAeterna, where she worked from 2020 to 2022, performing both as a soloist and within the choir worldwide. In 2022, she joined the Young Artist Program at the Bolshoi Theatre, where she studied and performed until 2024. During her time in Moscow, she appeared as Natasha Rostova in Prokofiev’s War and Peace, Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. She also participated in staged performances and concert programs at the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow Philharmonic Hall, and other venues. Since moving to Munich, she has continued developing her operatic repertoire as a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera. Her recent roles there include Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Tebaldo in Verdi’s Don Carlo. In the upcoming season, she will appear as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and take part in Hans Werner Henze’s Die englische Katze. Alongside opera, concert and oratorio repertoire continues to play a central role in her artistic activity. Recent concert highlights include Haydn’s The Creation, in which she sang the roles of Eva and the Archangel Gabriel; solo soprano in Mozart’s Coronation Mass under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski; and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14, reflecting her interest in 20th-century music. Known in Russia for her work in Baroque and chamber music, she maintains a varied repertoire that spans several centuries and styles. She regularly appears in recitals with early and chamber music programs while continuing to explore new directions in vocal performance.
