Angelo Villari has distinguished himself in numerous international opera competitions, achieving notable success, including winning first prize at the Simone Alaimo, il Bel Canto International Singing Competition in 2010. He was also a finalist in the Festival Puccini competition in Torre del Lago and was awarded the opportunity to perform the role of the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto as part of the Bel Canto in the Valley of the Temples Competition in Agrigento.
His operatic repertoire encompasses a wide range of roles, including works by Puccini (Madama Butterfly, Turandot, La Fanciulla del West, Tosca), Verdi (Il Trovatore, La forza del destino, Un ballo in maschera, Aida, Luisa Miller), as well as Mascagni (Guglielmo Ratcliff, Cavalleria Rusticana), I Pagliacci, and Lucia di Lammermoor.
Following his early performances in operas such as Galuppi’s The Country Philosopher, Mozart’s The Cairo Goose, Donizetti’s Theatrical Conveniences and Inconveniences, and Rossini’s Moses in Egypt, he participated in Luisa Miller at the Verdi Festival in Parma. He was subsequently invited back to the Teatro Regio for numerous productions, including Il Corsaro, Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, and Madama Butterfly.
Among his most significant performances, he has appeared in La Donna Serpente by Casella for the opening of the 40th Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, Guglielmo Ratcliff by Mascagni at the Wexford Festival Opera, I Shardanaby Ennio Porrino, La Campana Sommersa by Respighi, and La Ciociara by Marco Tutino at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari. His performances also include Madama Butterfly at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and Un Ballo in Maschera at the Rome Opera.
