Born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, Maria Mudryak showed a strong interest in music and singing in her early childhood. She first sang in front of an audience when she was three years old and recorded a CD of children's songs at the age of six. She then turned her attention to opera and moved to Italy to start her vocal training at the age of ten. One year later, she was admitted to the Children Chorus of Teatro alla Scala; at fourteen, she was accepted to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan, from which she graduated with honours at the age of 18. At the same time, she attended “Scuola musicale di Milano” where she studied with Maestro Carlo Gaifa. She is a winner of the 65th Aslico Competition for European Young Singers and won the “The Opera Ball Award” in Kazakhstan as well as the Third Prize and the Audience Prize of Plácido Domingo's prestigious Operalia Competition in 2017. In just a few years, young Italian-naturalised Kazakh soprano Maria Mudryak has become one of the most sought-after lyric coloraturas of her generation, having already celebrated success in roles such as Violetta in La Traviata, Mimì in La bohème and Liù in Turandot on some of the most prestigious international opera stages. She has collaborated with conductors such as Carlo Rizzi, Renato Palumbo, Aldo Sisillo, Fabrizio Carminati, Christopher Franklin, Matthew Aucoin and Nicola Pazkowsky, and stage directors including Leo Nucci, Hugo De Ana, Ferzan Ozpetek, Chiara Muti and Andrea Cigni.
