Paweł Horodyski graduated with distinction from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław where he studied under the guidance of Prof. Bogdan Makal. In 2019, he joined the Opera Studio at the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera in Warsaw. Since the 2023/24 season, he has been a member of the Opera Studio at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Beginning in the 2025/26 season, he will join the ensemble of this opera house performing in productions such as Ariadne auf Naxos, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, Madama Butterfly, Salome, Fidelio, Parsifal and Die verkaufte Braut. At the age of 21, Paweł performed his first major role as Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Wrocław Opera. In 2022, he made his debut at the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera as Zbigniew in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor and soon after appeared as Figaro in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Zuniga in Bizet’s Carmen at the Wrocław Opera. He has participated in prestigious programs such as the Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (2022), the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie (2022) and the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival (2023). In the 2024/25 season, in addition to numerous performances at the Bayerische Staatsoper including roles such as Un Carceriere in Tosca, First Apparition in Macbeth, Sergeant in Manon and Monk in Matsukaze Paweł made his debut at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl performing the role of Lord Gualtiero Valton in I Puritani conducted by Lorenzo Passerini. He also returned to the National Forum of Music to perform Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and to the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera where he performed in The Haunted Manor by Stanisław Moniuszko. In 2025, he will return to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to perform the role of Masetto in a new production of Don Giovanni conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
Next season, he will also make his debut at Teatro di San Carlo and return to the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera and Wrocław Opera. Paweł received his early musical education at the Fryderyk Chopin State Secondary Music School in Olsztyn where he studied solo singing and at the State Primary Music School where he studied the cello. He is a multiple recipient of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage’s Scholarship and the winner of the “Young Promoter of Poland” Award for promoting Polish culture worldwide.
