After he finished his studies at the University of Fort Hare, he got accepted at the Cape Town Opera chorus and he worked as an Ad Hoc. He gained a lot of experience from the chorus work, which included an opportunity to do a tour with the company doing a production The Passion of Christ. In July of 2019, he also had the privilege of performing in Orpheeu et Euridice as part of the chorus with the Cape Town Opera. He also did a tour in Germany performing the concert version of Porgy and Bess. The final production that he did with Cape Town Opera was La Bohème, in February 2020. At the beginning of 2020 he became a student of the University of Cape Town, doing his Advanced Diploma in Opera Performance, under the guidance of Prof. Jeremy Silver, and Prof. Patrick Tikolo. He also had the opportunity to perform Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte by Mozart with the University of Cape Town. He won the Schock Foundation Singing Competition 2021. He also participated in the Friends of the Cape Town Bursary Competition 2022 and won the second prize. Sakhiwe recently took part in the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition 2022, which was held in Gutersloh, and won the Second prize in the male category. He participated in the 8th International Opera Singing Competition of Portofino 2022, where he won the Eva Kleinitz Award.
